 Round 11: Silverstone Race 1

Heavy rain began to fall soon after the pack of 30 cars were unleashed from the grid. Just five drivers took the gamble to run on wet tyres and the performance advantage was clear from the start.

In S Class Terry Britchford had chosen to run on wets, and from fifth on the grid he soon made his way into the lead. At one point he managed to pull out a 22 second lead, and he eventually crossed the line to clinch his maiden victory. Steve Meli finished second after having to start from the back of the grid with a 10 second penalty (due to a weight infringement in qualifying). The 2002 Champion fought his way through the entire pack to finish 2nd. Series newcomer Andrew Bailey, who also chose wet tyres, stepped up onto the podium for the first time having finished 3rd.

In Club Class it looked as though victory would go the way of Martin Depper. However, Keith Issatt decided to run on wet tyres and soon came charging through the pack. After passing the battle for 3rd between Craggs and Campbell, Keith then overtook pole sitter Depper and took his maiden victory. Depper finished 2nd, in front of Craggs & Campbell in 3rd and 4th respectively.
