 Round 3: Croft Race 1

Track conditions were dry for Saturday morning qualifying and Stephen set fourth fastest time, putting him on the second row of the Club Class grid alongside team mate Gary Kounnis. Donington race winner Barney Craggs secured pole, with Club Class newcomer Martin Depper achieving 2nd on the grid. In S Class, Championship leader Arthur Forster secured pole alongside arch rival Andy Sayle.

Some light rain showers throughout the afternoon left the track damp as the cars lined up on the grid for race 1 of the weekend. As the lights went out Stephen dropped the clutch, causing the Dunlop semi-slick tyres to squeal and spin in protest. Dropping back to sixth by the first corner, it looked as if it had gone horribly wrong for Campbell, however, he managed to work his way up to 3rd by lap two. Barney Craggs and Gary Kounnis were close ahead in 1st and 2nd, and as the track started to dry out Stephen had managed to find a quick line. After overtaking Kounnis at Tower, he was soon on the tail of Craggs. Feeling the pressure from Campbell in his mirrors, Craggs entered Tower Bend slightly too fast, causing his car to oversteer towards the apex. In an attempt to avoid contact, Campbell took to the grass but neither driver could avoid a minor impact which bounced Craggs back onto the track. However, Campbell retained a higher exit speed allowing him to get ahead of Craggs. Craggs had a chance to get back ahead after Stephen had a 'sideways moment' through turn 1, however, Stephen managed to fend him off to secure his first victory of the season. Dave Philips secured his first podium finish after finishing a well deserved 3rd.

In S Class Forster secured yet another win, albeit just ahead of a persistent Mark Speller. Nordstrom finished a well deserved 3rd, having overtaken Sayle on lap 5 and holding off a determined Jim Loukes.
