| John Cooper Challenge 2005 Introduction |

 The fourth year of the Championship consisted of 6 weekends, all of which were double header race events. All 12 rounds of the Challenge supported the prestigious British F3 & British GT series.
The season started with an exclusive Test Day for competitors at Goodwood Motor Circuit on Monday 14th March, giving drivers the opportunity to 'shake down' their cars.
The Championship again ran two classes - MINI Cooper S and Club Class. The S Class consisted of a grid of 8 John Cooper Works MINI Cooper S's, uprated for 2005 to 210bhp. Sharing the same grid were 20 of the existing MINI Cooper Works cars, with 133bhp. For 2005 the Club Class cars had the option of specifying a John Cooper Motorsport rear wing and racing steering wheel.
Once again the Championship benefited from extensive support and promotion. Every round received prime time Sky Sports television coverage, consisting of 12 'stand alone' 30 minute programmes.
